There are new packages available for update: amule, curl, dosbox, dovecot, ekg2, ethereal, exim, kismet, postfix, shadow, syslog-ng, tcl, tk i wxGTK. In Ethereal and cURL case it's security update (better late than never), and Kismet at last works with madwifi-ng drivers. There are two new packages: cvstrac (bug tracking system aiding version control systems CVS, SVN and GIT) and centericq (multiprotocol IM client).

It's high time to update QEMU. I waited with that for adjusting my howto (sorry, Polish only; in 0.8.0 version there was change in the way network has to be set up), what I've done today.

Module pam_unix in PAM 0.99.3.0 was compiled incorrectly and user couldn't change his password because of that. Sorry for missing that, but I don't change my password every day. I've fixed this bug in current compilation, by the way adding modules documentation (PAM SAG alone is very outdated). See /usr/doc/pam-$VERSION/README.Slackware.

I have the pleasure of informing, that in the repository, beside Exim, showed up excellent SMTP server Postfix. Package is prepared with SSL/TLS (OpenSSL) and authentication (Cyrus SASL) support, and its slackbuild has compilation options enabling PostgreSQL and MySQL support.

There was no update for quite a long time, and now we have 10 packages to update. By the way I'm stopping holding packages in "just one more check" state (packages from packages-devel directory, I didn't put there all packages, though), 6 new packages came to repository. Read on...
Security update: OpenSSL
Addition date: Fri, 14 Oct 2005 09:49:54 +0200
Slackware has released update of package containing OpenSSL library. OpenSSL has recently a security hole, which allows to make program using OpenSSL use cryptographically weak SSL 2.0 (details are here). Metadata for pkgtools-ng of packages available as /patches are now available (by the way I've updated metadata of packages from Extended Slackware).

I was a bit afraid of update to Slackware 10.2, mainly because of lack
of GNOME. Fortunately, only grip package is affected, which I won't
maintain until I find project preparing main line of GNOME for
Engine by Dozzie. Awful design by Dozzie.
